Representatives of INES-Ruhengeri , ITFC, OVG and GVTC participated in this important meeting on the 8th March 2016 at INES Ruhengeri. This meeting started by a Lab Tour to visit places where water samples will be analyzed. The participants agreed up on the way forward to carry out this activity. At INES Ruhengeri Lab, it was noticed that INES-Ruhengeri has human resources capacity of conducting all water analysis.
The team decided to have a backup generator in case the power has gone. GVTC Executive Secretary promised to contribute to find solution to these challenges. For the research institutions, they raised an issue of respecting the time of shipping the water samples as some of them must be kept in a cool place not exceeding 4°C.

Among the suggested solution is to go to the field with the Lab Technician to make some analysis for which samples cannot be kept for a long while; other will be being shipped to INES in the cooler containing also ice cube. GVTC will facilitate in securing authorization for transboundary shipment of water samples. Comments that the research institutions need to consider were shared by GVTC, and they all agreed upon the way to move forward. The inception report will be ready by the end of March 2016 and a debriefing meeting will be organized in which the lab technician will participate. This coordination meeting will be taking place in these three (INES-OVG-ITFC) institutions on rotational basis.
