Is on this Thursday 22nd June 2017 staff and students from biotechnology department got added knowledge during the public lecture on Prudent use of antibiotics and importance of bacteriological examination and susceptibility testing in both, veterinary and human medicine given by Dr. Igor Loncaric, Clinical Microbiologist, from University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna/Austria. He is also advisor in New Vision Veterinary Hospital (NVVH) located in Musanze district. The presentation geos around this question “Why is important to perform bacteriological examinations and susceptibility texting?” Dr. Igor with the team from NVVH, Dr. Bettina Horvat, Director of NVVH Advisory Board, Flora Muragijemariya, Managing Director of NVVH, and others explained to the students different thing related to microbiology. Dr. Igor explained also the concept of “One world one health”.
When exchanging with the Rector of INES-Ruhengeri, Fr. Dr. Fabien HAGENIMANA explained the team the concept of applied sciences and why INES chosen to become institute of applied sciences. They exchanged on the way both institutions can establish partnership so that they may exchange resources in line with analysis.
After, the team visited INES laboratories, laboratories related to their daily services which are Food Microbiology laboratory, Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, Parasitology laboratory, Molecular biology and Immunoserology laboratory, Phlebotomy and Anatomy laboratory, Chemistry laboratory, Haematology and Immunohematology laboratory, Clinical chemistry laboratory and Tissu culture laboratory.
