774 graduated today, Friday19th March 2021 at INES-Ruhengeri, a graduation ceremony is a good moment for institutions, graduands, parents, partners, and students to all come together and enjoy the results of the whole academic journey. Enjoying the results and shaping a new vision and projection for the institution. INES has now 8,406 alumni at the market who graduated in different programs of INES-Ruhengeri.
This year’s graduation ceremony is special it was done virtually under the theme: “shifting from paper to product”. The choice of this theme was inspired by the strong will of INES-Ruhengeri to impart an education, which contributes to the current job creation need. Obtaining a degree is an important step but it is not the finality. Students are called to focus their attention on the acquisition of knowledge, competencies, attitude, and capacity to creatively come up with new ideas susceptible to being transformed into products and new businesses.
To facilitate students in teaching and learning, INES has initiated a strategic plan for 2019-2024 with three driving keys: Internationalization, Digitalization, and Bridging academia and industry
In its efforts to contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation, INES is currently focusing on imparting entrepreneurial education for employment creation.
It is in this regard that the selected theme of this graduation ceremony is «shifting from paper to product». This means that the primary motivation of INES graduates is not the degree they receive upon completion of their studies but the products they can generate from the competencies acquired.
Vice-Chancellor, Fr Dr. Fabien HAGENIMANA when addressing the welcome speech said to the Graduands that INES-Ruhengeri is ever proud of them and confident in the success of their coming professional life. “You only need to believe in yourself and keep this quote of Albert Einstein in mind: “Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.” He said
Prof. Dr. agr. Clemens Wollny the Dean of Life Sciences and Engineering at TH Bingen (University of Applied Sciences) was the keynote speaker of the day, he started by thanking INES-Ruhengeri for being Applied Science University which is the same journey for some Italian and German universities. Prof Clemens has congratulated the graduates and encourage them to continue learning especially the life skills like communication skills, ICT skills, having values, etc.
The Mater’s graduate in Taxation Immaculate MUKAMURENZI, who spoke on behalf of the graduates, assured that they had acquired skills, knowledge, competencies, attitude, and capacity to create jobs and compete favorably on the job market.
Chief Technical Adviser Mr. GATABAZI Pascal who represented the Ministry of Education virtually via zoom in this ceremony congratulated INES-Ruhengeri for its efforts in the STEM programs and the efforts in IT and the teaching methodology INES uses.
The Mayor of the Musanze district thanked the management of INES-Ruhengeri for the good collaboration with the district and encouraged graduates for the achievement. She called the people of the Musanze district to collaborate in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. “INES-Ruhengeri is a big and important partner of Northern Province and Musanze district in particular,” said NUWUMUREMYI Jeannine Mayor of Musanze
When addressing the audience, His Lordship Vincent HAROLIMANA the Chancellor and Legal Representative of INES thanked all partners of INES among them the government of Rwanda. He equally emphasized the mission and vision of INES and its orientation of being Institute of Applied Sciences, its teaching methodologies, practical-based teaching.
“Focusing on applied sciences was in line with the commitment to build the capacity of students and training professionals who are competent at the labour market and also able to create jobs for them and employ others,” he said.
He explained in clear terms the theme of this 12th graduation, which is “shifting from paper to product”; His Lordship Vincent HAROLIMANA told the audience that INES-Ruhengeri wants to be the leading university in practical skills. He concluded by wishing a good day to the audience.
