Unity Club in collaboration with Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College and National Unity and Reconciliation Commission organized public talk hold at INES-Ruhengeri on Wednesday 29th May 2019.
Unity Club is an organisation made up of former and current cabinet members and their spouses, it was created with the aim of promoting unity while contributing to the socio-economic development of the country that following the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Unity Club provides its members opportunity to promote social cohesion and work together towards the sustainable development.
Vice Chancellor of INES-Ruhengeri, Fr. Dr Fabien HAGENIMANA during his speech explained the motivation behind the creation of INES-Ruhengeri which are building signs of hope, the contribution to unity and reconciliation and the contribution to sustainable development. He also explained the orientation of INES-Ruhengeri of being institute of applied sciences and its contribution on the development of the country through its unique programs.
When addressing to the audience Hon Stalla Ford MUGABO explained the main objectives of Unity Club which are: To significantly contribute to the promotion of unity among Rwandans and social development in general, To bring together former, current cabinet members and their spouses to build a better Rwanda through the power of sharing and interaction, To continually foster collaboration and create a platform for open dialogue and unity among members, To advocate for the socio-economic wellbeing of disadvantaged groups in general with particular focus on orphans, To contribute to the empowerment of Rwandan women and promote gender equality, To promote collaboration with development partners.
When exchanging with the audience Gen James KABARERE, The Senior Presidential Adviser on security matters narrated his life’s journey and explained how the youth played a big part in the liberation struggle. He also underlined the role of HE Paul KAGAME in the liberation struggle. “He was the best we had and we needed” Gen KABAREBE said
The youth played a significant role in the resultant national reconstruction and development effort. “You have to strive to work hard to bequeath a prosperous and peaceful country to the generations to come.” Said Kabarere
In his closing remarks, Hon Minister of Education Dr Eugene MUTIMURA thanked Unity Club and all partners who organized the event for the big contribution to unity and renunciation. He also encouraged youth to work hard and prepare the brilliant future of the country.
