INES hosted international workshop on the drone technology

From 31 October 2016 to November 11, 2016 INES-Ruhengeri hosted an international workshop around the theme “Innovative Geospatial Technologies for Improved Land and Food Governance: From Data Capture to Useful Information” where experts from 9 countries (Netherlands, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda) converged at INES-Ruhengeri.

In his closing remarks, Fr. Dr Fabien HAGENIMANA, The Rector of INES-Ruhengeri thanked all trainees and the guests. He explained the process INES has gone through in the use of this new technology where Eng. Placide NKERABIGWI got training on how to drive drones in France. He added that INES has bought its own drone to facilitate teaching and research of this technology. “We expect that this workshop is an added value not only for INES teaching agenda but also for its research agenda in addressing issues related to agriculture, land administration and management in Rwanda in particular and in the region as a whole.“ He concluded

When addressing his speech to the audience in the name of Bishop Vincent HAROLIMANA, Fr. Cassien MURINDAHABI congratulated all trainees and the management of INES-Ruhengeri for the event. “I take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to INES-Ruhengeri for its endeavors in quality education especially by choosing to embark on the road of Applied Sciences with specific emphasis on the needs of the country” he said.

I appreciate the orientation of INES-Ruhengeri of being applied science and its’ programs such as Land Survey, Land Administration and Management, Civil Engineering, these programs push INES-Ruhengeri to deal with land related issues and find solutions to them.
