Over 400 stakeholders from public and private sector have deliberated on the nexus between application of local content requirements and East African Community (EAC) industrialization during the 2nd East African Manufacturing Summit which took from 23rd to 25th of May 2017 in Serena, Kigali-Rwanda.
Universities and industries from six EAC contries were present. INES was represented by department of biotechnology. Through the option of Food Biotechnology, INES-Ruhengeri is able to produce different agro-food products.
The 2nd East African Manufacturing Summit provides an avenue for the private sector to share practical insights on the linkages among local content, domestic value addition and promotion of industries.
