On this Friday 21st October 2016, INES-Ruhengeri in collaboration with USAID|PSDAG signed the grant agreement for increasing the quantity and quality in potato seeds value chain in Northern and Southern Provinces of Rwanda.

Objectives and targeted group in this project:
- At the end of the project, INES Ruhengeri will be capable of supplementing the potato seeds production capacity of RAB by a factor of 50%, By: Increasing the availability of Vitroplants (produced in tissue culture Lab) and mini tubers (produced in Green Houses) on market for improving the Irish potato productivity.
- Target Groups are Farmers, Cooperatives, Companies of the volcanic regions (North region: Musanze, Burera, Nyabihu and Gicumbi districts) and other district of Southern province such as Nyaruguru and Nyamagabe.

In his welcome note Fr. Dr Fabien HAGENIMANA, Rector of INES-Ruhengeri thanked Melanie BITTLE in the name of Private Sector Driven Agricultural Growth Project (PSDAG) for the work done he also thanked everyone involved in the project. He also explained the orientation of INES to become university of applied sciences. “This why the department of biotechnology came to address the problem of agriculture in the region” he concluded.
