Dr. Francois Nsengiyumva holds a PhD degree in Space Physics from University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, obtained on 09 April 2014 (lower academic qualifications: MSc and BSc (Honours) degrees in Space Physics from University of Cape Town, South Africa, BSc degree in Maths-Physics-Education from University of Rwanda-former Kigali Institute of Education, Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from University of Rwanda-College of Education, Certificate of Secondary Education with major in Maths-Physics from Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare, Rwanda).

After completing a one-year postdoc, position held from January to December 2014, in the physics department of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, he joined the civil engineering department of INES-Ruhengeri where he has been Lecturer, teaching undergraduate physics modules, from February 2015 to September 2017, then Senior Lecturer of Physics from October 2017 to date. He has a good publication record, including publications in top internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals with high impact factor.

His current research interests are mainly in Climate Physics and Space Plasma Physics. He is interested in supervising students’ research projects (BSc, MSc, PhD and Postdocs) in these areas. Director of research and consultancy of INES-Ruhengeri from March 2015 to September 2017, Ag. Chief editor of the INES Scientific Journal from April 2016 to September 2017.
