The Rwanda Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE RWANDA) founded in 1997, organized a Scholarship Award Ceremony at INES-Ruhengeri that took place on Friday 21st May 2021 with two key points on the agenda:
- Scholarship Award and commitment form signed by scholars
- Distribution of laptops to 4th cohort of scholars
On the mentioned day, FAWE Rwanda renewed a comprehensive scholarship for 411 scholars and awarded it to scholars from cohort 4 at INES-Ruhengeri. This scholarship is awarded in partnership with the Master Card Foundation scholarship program.
Antonia Mutoro, the Country Director of FAWE, said the scholarships aim to support government efforts toward facilitating girls to pursue their education. She reminded FAWE Rwanda values (high level of integrity and discipline, good performance, no criminal activities, etc) and appreciated INES leadership for many things especially for his culture of recognition for the best students. She continued expressing as follows: “My scholars, you have all to change the life.” Mutoro challenged the scholars to optimize the opportunity they have been given by striving to effect positive change in their communities.
Fawe Rwanda awarded laptops to 8 scholars who are in their first year at INES Ruhengeri to allow them to do various academic-related projects, researches, and follow platforms through E-learning efficiently.
Fawe Rwanda congratulated also its scholars for good academic performance during 2019-2020 despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
In his remarks, The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that he is very proud to partner with Fawe Rwanda in Education, “Education is a weapon to transform the world especially with girls” he said. These scholars perform well even in other extra activities.
