Déogratias Nahayo is a Civil Engineer as background from National University of Rwanda (2000-2005). He has a Master of Science in Water Resources Engineering and Environmental Management from the same University associated with UNESCO-IHE, the Delft Institute for Water Education (2006-2007) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from University of Rwanda, College of Education (2015-2016).

He worked with the Ministry of Natural Resources (MINIRENA) as Procurement Officer (2008-2009), Assistant Lecturer at the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, ISAE-Busogo, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Department of Soil and Agricultural Engineering (2009-2010), Water Supply Engineer at Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC) inHuye, Nyaruguru and Gisagara Districts (2010-2011), Head of Department of Land Survey (2011-2012) at INES-Ruhengeri, Head of Department of Civil Engineering (2012-2015) at INES-Ruhengeri, Lecturer and Coordinator of INES-GVTC, INES-GVTC-NICHE-264 and INES-LKMP projects ( 2015- up to date).

He was promoted at the academic grade of Lecturer and Researcher on 04th December 2013. His field of expertise is summarized in the different fields of civil engineering namely design and construction of civil engineering structures, hydrology, hydraulics, environmental engineering and quantity surveying. He is now a lecturer and coordinator of water related projects and independent consultant in the aforementioned domains of expertise.
