Mr. MUHIRE Élisée

Graduate school: University of Rwanda

Qualification: PhD Candidate

Area Of Specialization: Renewable Energy

Department/Office: Department of Electrical and Energy Engineering

Service/Position/Rank: Assistant Lecturer

Mr. Elisée MUHIRE joined INES-Ruhengeri in November 2018 and has been working as a visiting Assistant Lecturer of Physics for six academic years. In January 2025, he was appointed as a full-time teaching staff member. His primary role is to equip students with a strong foundation in Physics as they prepare to transition into their Civil Engineering studies.

Mr. Elisée MUHIRE holds a Master of Engineering in Materials Physics and Chemistry, which he earned from Lanzhou University in China between September 2015 and June 2018. He also completed a Bachelor's degree in Physics with distinction from the former National University of Rwanda between January 2006 and February 2011.

With a strong background in Physics, Mr. Elisée MUHIRE has developed scientific and technical expertise in various areas, including thin-film deposition via the spin-coating method, synthesis and characterization of nanostructures, nanocomposites, graphene oxide via Harmer’s method, and the development of graphene oxide aerogels.

His Master’s thesis focused on the Preparation and Photocatalytic Properties of BiOBr Nanostructures/rGO Aerogel Composites. Additionally, he presented his research at a 2017 conference on Spectroscopic Ellipsometry Measurement Systems, where he discussed The Effect of Sb-Doping on the Morphological, Optical, and Electrical Properties of SnO₂ Thin Films Prepared via the Sol-Gel Spin-Coating Method. This research was later published in the Journal of Materials Science (MEDŽIAGOTYRA).

Currently, Mr. MUHIRE is pursuing a PhD in Renewable Energy at the African Center of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACE-ESD), located at the College of Science and Technology (CST), University of Rwanda (UR). His research focuses on perovskite solar cells for industrial applications.
