✨ CAMPUS LIFE HIGHLIGHTS: Semester I (Sept 2024 – Feb 2025)

From vibrant cultural showcases to inspiring outreach initiatives, Semester I was packed with action, impact, and unforgettable memories. Here's a snapshot of INES Campus Life, as brought to you by our students, clubs, and community service champions.

 1. Taking INES to JANJA – School Outreach

On Feb 23, 2025, students and staff represented INES-Ruhengeri at Lycée Saint Jérôme JANJA. We presented our academic programs, celebrated Mass, and played friendly basketball and volleyball matches. Inspired students even invited their school leaders to visit INES – and they said yes!


 2. Sports Spirit with UR-Huye

On Feb 16, we played friendly football and volleyball matches with UR-Huye Campus. While the football ended 0-0 and volleyball went to UR-Huye, the experience was full of laughter, cheers, and good vibes.



3. Intercultural Day – Celebrating Unity in Diversity

INES hosted its 4th Intercultural Day under the theme "Different Cultures, One Vision." From dances and songs to traditional foods and guest speeches, students shared their rich backgrounds in a celebration of global unity.



⚖️ 4. Fighting Corruption, Promoting Integrity

INES students joined the National Closing Week on Prevention of Corruption on Feb 14. We engaged with justice leaders who emphasized values like honesty, integrity, and national development. A powerful message for future legal professionals!



5. Debate Competition & SU Dream Project

On Jan 31, debate participants received certificates and awards. We also celebrated the launch of INES-SU’s Dream Project a community initiative to build a home for a vulnerable family in Buhunge sector. True leadership in action!



6. Ndi Umunyarwanda Awareness Talk

In partnership with G.S. Karwasa, INES Unity and Resilience Club organized a talk on Feb 5 about Rwandan heroism, unity, and gratitude. The club also paid a student’s school fees, funded by member contributions. 



 7. Car-Free Day with Musanze District

On Feb 9, INES students joined Car-Free Day, a monthly sport event. Starting at UBWOROHERANE stadium and ending at the Youth Center, students exercised alongside Musanze’s Mayor and residents. A reminder: health is wealth!



 8. Ndi Umunyarwanda Talent Competition

On Feb 6, students competed in poetry and song to express national unity values. Top performers earned recognition, with special thanks to the Musanze Itorero Coordinator and the panel of judges. Unity through creativity!



 9. INES Students Trace Rwanda’s Liberation Journey

On January 26, 2025, INES-Ruhengeri students and staff visited Kagitumba, Kanyampeke, and Gikoba to explore key sites of Rwanda’s liberation struggle. The trip highlighted the RPA’s entry into Rwanda, the sacrifice of Fred Gisa Rwigema, and the strategic command base of President Paul Kagame in Gikoba. It was a deeply educational and emotional experience that strengthened students’ understanding of patriotism, leadership, and national unity.



 10. INES-SU Dream Project Phase II

Launched on Jan 18, Phase II of the Dream Project continued to support community well-being through home-building in Buhunge Village, in line with Musanze District's performance contracts.




♿ 11. Inclusion Trip to UWEZO

On Dec 14, student leaders and peers visited UWEZO Youth Empowerment Center. They learned powerful lessons on disability inclusion, resilience, and creating a more accessible education environment. “Success is shared,” said founder Bahati.



 12. Interdepartmental Games Award Ceremony

On Dec 6, winning teams from a month-long interdepartmental tournament received trophies and awards across basketball, football, volleyball, and handball. The event promoted unity, sportsmanship, and talent recognition at INES.



 13. Visiting Patients with Kindness

On Nov 30, INES students visited patients at Ruhengeri Referral Hospital, delivering essential items and messages of hope. Small gestures, big hearts.



 14. Induction for New Students

Over 1,163 new students were welcomed during the Sept 2024 and Feb 2025 intakes. During the orientation, INES Vice Chancellor reminded students:

“All INES Staffs are here for students.”
