INES-Ruhengeri Computer Science Students Gain Real-World Experience at Liquid Telecom Kigali

In a dynamic move to bridge classroom learning with industry experience, students from the Computer Science Department at INES-Ruhengeri, specializing in Network Engineering, embarked on an educational visit to Liquid Telecom’s facilities in Kigali on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025.

Led by Dr. HABIMANA Theodore, Head of the Computer Science Department, the visit was designed to deepen the students’ practical understanding of core network operations and telecommunications infrastructure. Guided by industry experts, the students had the unique opportunity to explore various critical installations, including the Data Center, Power Center, and the Network Operations Center (NOC). They also visited the legacy copper dispatching center, gaining valuable insights into the historical evolution of telecommunication systems in Rwanda and beyond.

Throughout the tour, Liquid Telecom professionals provided in-depth explanations on how the company manages its national and international networks, showcasing real-time operations and high-level network architecture. Students were encouraged to engage with the experts, asking technical questions and discussing industry trends and best practices.

The experience proved to be both enlightening and inspiring, with many students expressing interest in pursuing internships with Liquid Telecom to further their professional development.

INES-Ruhengeri extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Alex Kabeja, CEO of Liquid Telecom, for his support of academic-industry collaboration, and to Mr. Patrick Ngendahimana, who warmly hosted the students and facilitated the enriching experience.
