INES-Ruhengeri Wins 2nd Place in Rwanda’s University Reading and Writing Competition

Kigali, April 4, 2025 — INES-Ruhengeri proudly secured Second Place in the National Reading and Writing Competition for Higher Learning Institutions, held at Intare Arena. The event was organized by the Rwanda Writers Federation in collaboration with the Pan-African Movement, bringing together students from universities across the country to celebrate the power of literature, communication, and critical thought.

Among the top 20 best-performing students in the competition, five represented INES-Ruhengeri with distinction. These outstanding individuals include SIBOMANA Shema Elysee, UKUNZWENIMANA Olivier, DUSENGUMUREMYI Steven, and GIRAMATA SHYIRIBURYO Stella. Notably, DUSENGIMANA Safi emerged as one of the national stars of the competition, earning third place overall. Their impressive achievements not only reflect personal dedication but also underscore INES-Ruhengeri’s growing reputation for academic excellence and its commitment to nurturing well-rounded, intellectually curious students.

During the official award ceremony, both INES-Ruhengeri and its participating students were honored with a variety of recognitions. As an institution, INES-Ruhengeri received a Trophy for Second Place, alongside medals and a certificate of recognition—a collective achievement that affirms the university's role in promoting literacy and creative engagement among youth.

The five participating students also received individual awards in acknowledgment of their efforts and success. These included monetary prizes, book packages, medals, and certificates recognizing both participation and performance. The competition not only celebrated skill but also aimed to inspire a lifelong passion for reading and writing.

On the national stage, the top three performers were officially announced: NAHIMANA Edwin Chancelin from ULK Kigali took first place, followed by Reverien Bintunimana from EAUR Nyagatare in second place, and INES-Ruhengeri’s own DUSENGIMANA Safi proudly clinched third.

This achievement marks yet another step in INES-Ruhengeri’s journey toward academic leadership and its mission to empower students with the knowledge and skills to make meaningful contributions to society.
