28 June 2024

On June 26th, 2024, Rwanda National Investment Trust Ltd (RNIT Ltd) conducted a public lecture at INES-Ruhengeri's Beatrix Room, focusing on promoting the culture of saving among Rwandans, particularly the youth, in support of Rwanda's Vision 2050.

INES-Ruhengeri was honored to host Mr. Jonathan Gatera, CEO of RNIT Ltd, who shared his invaluable expertise in financial management and investment strategies. His insights emphasized the importance of savings and investment across different age groups, especially for the youth who are the driving force behind Rwanda's future economic prosperity.

The lecture provided an excellent opportunity for students, lecturers, and academic staff of INES-Ruhengeri to gain practical knowledge and inspiration to actively participate in Rwanda's socio-economic transformation. The session also facilitated meaningful discussions on how educational institutions like INES-Ruhengeri can play a pivotal role in nurturing a financially literate and responsible citizenry.

INES-Ruhengeri students displayed tremendous excitement and enthusiasm about this opportunity. Their engagement and eagerness to learn are truly inspiring and promising for the future of the nation.

Rwanda's ambitious Vision 2050 aims to elevate the country's economic status from a low-income to a middle-income, and eventually a high-income nation by 2050. A critical component of achieving this vision is to increase the country's savings ratio to GDP to at least 30%. This goal requires concerted efforts in educating and encouraging Rwandans, particularly the younger generation, to adopt prudent financial practices and invest wisely.
