The candidate should have completed Biology and Chemistry as core courses and should have obtained a principal pass with a minimum grade of “D” in these two subjects. This means that the combinations of Mathematics-Chemistry-Biology (MCB), Physics-Chemistry-Biology (PCB), and Biology-Chemistry-Geography (BCG) are considered. A subsidiary grade (S) in Mathematics, Physics, or Geography, in addition to the two principal passes, will be acceptable.
• Applicants who completed the associate nursing program in high school and have a secondary nursing diploma or an associate nurse certificate will be admitted into the Advanced Diploma in Midwifery program. These applicants should have at least two principal passes, with at least a grade D in Biology and Chemistry, plus at least a subsidiary grade (S) in either Mathematics, Physics, or Geography, along with Fundamentals of Nursing and Clinical Attachment. Having an A2 Nursing qualification with distinction and holding a valid nursing council practice license, along with competency in both written and spoken English and demonstrated skills in computer numeracy, will be an added advantage.
• Students who have accumulated credits at one or more approved Midwifery educational institutions within Rwanda or abroad may apply for credit transfer when joining the Advanced Diploma in Midwifery program at INES-Ruhengeri, as long as the total credits do not exceed 50% of the total number of program credits required for the final exit award.
• Applicants who studied in a foreign country should provide a valid educational equivalence from NESA or the Higher Education Council (if credit transfer is needed).
NB: Midway Entry Admission and Transfer of Credits
Learners seeking midway entry to the program or transfer from another institution (or other schools of nursing and midwifery) should comply with the requirements regarding midway admission and transfer of credits. This means that at least 50% of the credits required to complete the program should be obtained at the current higher learning institution to which the learner is transferred. The candidate should also be competent in both written and spoken English, demonstrate skills in computer numeracy, and have the mental and physical fitness to study general nursing, midwifery, or mental health nursing. The candidate should also provide an ID/Passport and a certificate of good conduct as required by the Rwanda NCNM.
In addition to the previous requirements, applicants who studied in a foreign country should provide a valid educational equivalence from HEC.
